Cartoons from The Rapid CIty Weekly News

These first two cartoons won Second place for original cartoons in the State of South Dakota Press Awards in 2007 and 2008 respectively. Many of these issues are over but some should be familiar throughout the ages. Sen. Thune and Daschle were never serious VP contenders in '08 but it made for a fun SD grown politicians fight.
There are more cartoons further down the page.
I like using color but it wasn't very necessary in black and white print. Some of these ideas were mine, many were collaborations with my editor Tom Lawrence and a few were his idea entirely.

Illustrations for The Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History

I did a variety of color-sheets, how-to illustrations and general fun art activity pieces for the Sam Noble Museum in Norman, OK. Many of these pictures are used over-and-over because the Discovery Room educators teach new students every year.
The undersea scape at the top of this site was a diarama background I drew. The animals are also mine and were cut out and pasted into the scene.

Art Alley fun

The following pictures are of spray-paint graffiti art in Art Alley in Rapid City. The monkey with a banana martini, the crocodile with a mouth full of birds, and the kangaroo are a few pieces I did on my own. My daughter Maya helped me complete the bear.
There are hundreds of artists involved in the ever growing/changing project. I've put a link to the home page on the right of the blog.
Thanks to Dennis for he great pictures of my daughter.

Cartoons published in The Black Hills Pioneer/Rapid City Weekly News

The figures in these cartoons may not all be recognizable outside South Dakota, but I made sure to throw in few that are easy name.
